Things are getting sensible in the fashion world. Unfortunately I don't mean things are becoming more affordable, I don't think that will ever happen. No, hemlines have grown to calf length, trousers become loose and whole outfits totally understated. There wasn't a glimpse of a knee let alone a thigh. Though I am personally not a fan of calf length as it just doesn't suit me, (I have inherited calves that are not the slimmest, thanks mum) I do like the simplicity and easy-to-wear style of these new skirts. The Marc Jacobs A/W 2010 collection was the most sensible collection I have seen in a while, full of a-line skirts, high necklines and neutral colours. Simple but elegant.
Over at Chloe, everything went beige. Sorry, camel. Dresses, trousers, skirts, shoes, jackets, if they can make it, it will more than likely be in this colour. Skirts were again longer, but stopped more flatteringly at the knee, while trousers were loose and tapered. Leather also played a part again, giving a chic feel to the collection. Belts shrunk to skinny in this collection for a more subtle, feminine look.
