Balmain spring/summer '10

Subtle, feminine and pretty are all words you wouldn’t use to describe Balmain’s spring/summer ’10 collection. With Christophe Decarnin taking inspiration from Tina Turner in Mad Max: Beyond the Thunderdome, this was set to be all about military. Sharp khaki military jackets were adorned with brass buttons and sequins, while tiny leather dresses featured chain mail and epaulettes to keep Balmain’s now famous statement shoulder alive. Skin-tight ripped jeans helped tone down some outfits while plunging necklines and cut-outs vamped others up. These clothes are not for the faint hearted, with shorts so short they almost become indecent and dresses so tight you may just be able to see what the wearer had for supper the previous night. But if you have the confidence and legs to wear them then I salute you.
